Coming this week, HubSpot users will have the ability to post directly to LinkedIn Groups using the HubSpot Social Media tool. A highly requested feature from customers, posting to LinkedIn Groups will allow users to schedule posts to any number of groups, track engagement activity, and see which contacts clicked on the content that was shared. This new feature matches the same functionality HubSpot users currently enjoy with Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn Personal Account Pages.
The posts, once published, will appear in your LinkedIn Groups as discussions. The tool also allows you to give each topic a title, description, and unique message.
In the example below, we've decided to share a piece of content with some of our HubSpot User Groups. HubSpot User Groups are collections of people around the world who meet to discuss inbound marketing and how to use HubSpot (you should join one!). Below you'll see we've chosen a piece of content to share to multiple HubSpot User Groups on Linkedin at once. We do that by connecting our Linkedin account to HubSpot in social media settings, and then selecting the groups we want to post to in the social media tool.
As with all social media publishing in HubSpot, you can either publish immediately or schedule your message to post at a later time. When we posted this message, it appeared in each of the groups as a discussion topic. Below, you'll see our post in the Milwaukee HubSpot Users Group (What's up Milwaukee!).
This new functionality aims to save HubSpot users time and breathe some new life into their LinkedIn groups. "Sharing our content on LinkedIn groups has increased our traffic and lead flow exponentially. Plus, we're able to use our content to spark meaningful conversations with groups of our target customers," said Patrick Campbell, an early user of the feature and founder of Price Optimization company Price Intelligently.
If you're a HubSpot customer, you can give it a try this week by going to HubSpot Social Media.

This is a terrific feature. Well done!

Thanks Doug! We like it too.

Good stuff! Been waiting for this feature to be made available. Now... what if I have multiple LinkedIn accounts with 50 groups (max) each? There isn't a way to group my profiles and group accordingly?
I would also love to see an option to select all the groups rather than having to select the groups individually one by one.

posting to our LinkedIn "company page" doesn't seem to come up as an option?
MV 3:11 AM on November 20, 2012
Companies option would be great too!
Alex Rourke 7:27 AM on November 20, 2012
I'm going to have to 3rd that request to post to company pages, that would be incredibly convenient! Maybe Google+ pages as well?
Mike Champion 9:22 AM on November 20, 2012
@Sookie - agreed, we need to do better to group the publishing options, especially for those who participate in a lot of groups.
@richard @alex - unfortunately at this time LinkedIn hasn't made a public open for 3rd parties to post to Company Pages (same with Google+).

Fantastic new addition to the tool. Will save a lot of time and help to refine the posting process. Way to go.

Isn't working presently...
Mike Champion 5:32 PM on November 20, 2012
@randy we encountered an issue with LinkedIn API limits that we hope to resolve shortly (estimated 10pm EST). Sorry for the hassle

Awesome

Tried it today and really like it. One challenge. Have multiple LinkedIn accounts and groups. When sharing through social media tool, all the groups are mixed up, so you don't know who the owner actually is. Very confusing. Any plans to fix?
Mike Champion 6:53 PM on November 21, 2012
@patrick yes, we're going to change how we organize & present the accounts to publish to. Thanks for the feedback!
Caroline 8:56 PM on November 21, 2012
Company page publishing would also be awesome...
Carrie 1:24 PM on November 26, 2012
I have the same issue as @patrick. I look forward to seeing better organization of the accounts.

Is there a way to turn the group posting off? I post to LinkedIn for a number of accounts at my company and I only need to post to their LinkedIn, not their groups, and scrolling through the over 100 groups to find the names is very time consuming. Any way to turn it off and on?
Mike Champion 9:30 AM on November 28, 2012
@abby Thanks for the comment. We're working on a better way to display the available accounts that should keep them out of the way. Hope to have that out in the next 2 weeks.
In the mean-time, as a workaround you can de-activate LinkedIn Groups from the Social Media Settings page. It would require a bunch of clicks to remove them all though.
abby 12:47 PM on November 28, 2012
Thanks Mike, it would also be handy to know the name of the person associated with the group as well. Since we'll be posting on their behalf, it'd be nice to know who we're posting for since I'm sure some of my team members are members of the same group, to avoid overposting.

This looks like a fantastic tool. I look farward to learning more about it, a I am a newbie looking for ways to get my site noticed, then I can work on finding other stores.
Dave 2:21 PM on December 14, 2012
When I post to a half-dozen groups, then the notification appears on the front page 6 times plus one for the regular notification. Hence the same post shows up 7 times in a row. Makes it look like I'm some sort of an oaf. How do I fix this?
