Director of Product Management - Job Description

Do you love working with web-based software products?  Do you like interviewing customers and prospects to find unmet needs?  Do you have attention to detail to make a product not good, but great?

The Director of Product Management will be the unifying force behind HubSpot's product strategy and execution, combining feedback from sales, marketing, development, customers and prospects to set the strategic vision and lead the execution on new features and products.  This is an important and strategic role within the company, and our expectations are equally high.  The Director of Product Management will gather and prioritize product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with development to continue to deliver a remarkable product.  Equally important, this position includes working with sales, marketing and support to ensure our product supports our business model and is helping to grow HubSpot into a large and profitable company.

The Director of Product Management is expected to:

  • Create and manage the overall Product Management process at HubSpot
  • Gather and analyze feedback from sales, marketing, development and the market
  • Lead our internal process to define the product strategy, roadmap and priorities
  • Develop requirements documents and use cases for new product features
  • Monitor the status of development projects supporting new features
  • Conduct business-level verification and market testing of new features
  • Become an expert on other products in the marketplace
  • Be a go-to person and strategic leader within the company

Desired experience and expertise:

  • Experience as a Product Manager for a software product (B2B or B2C)
  • Experience with agile development processes and monthly or weekly product release cycles
  • Passion for web-based software products
  • "Roll-up-your-sleeves" entrepreneurial, startup attitude
  • Natural ability to relate to customers and prospects
  • Ability to work with different people across a team effectively
  • Bachelor's degree (MBA or other Master's preferred)
  • Remarkable references
