Sam Clemens, VP Product

Prior to HubSpot, Sam was VP of Product and Community for BzzAgent, a word-of-mouth marketing software company. He led the transformation of BzzAgent's user base into a tracked and monitored media channel and its subsequent growth from 100,000 to half a million users.

Sam also helped build Elance and, as part of the founding team, helped write its original business plan as a professional services marketplace. Sam then built a business development team and led partnerships with eBay, Intuit and BusinessWeek.

On the other side of the entrepreneurial table, Sam also worked on the investment team at Greylock Partners, a venture capital firm with 40 years of experience and more than $2 billion under management. His area of focus was consumer software and network security.

Before his days as an entrepreneur, Sam was a management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, helping to launch 9 products in two years for clients in the software and telecom industries. Sam's other experience includes the Algorithms Group at Amazon.com and time with Hewlett Packard and EMC as a software developer.

Sam has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Applied Math from Yale. He is co-founder and advisor to the 3D modeling startup, Models From Mars. For fun, Sam does deep technical (rebreather and trimix) scuba diving on local shipwrecks.
