Campaign Description:
Bluewire Media ran its first “Social Media for Business” event. The event’s objective was to educate clients (who were offered free tickets) and to sell tickets to other guests (for a price of $45). To promote the event, Bluewire mainly utilized the following social media marketing techniques to support its event marketing:
- Sent an email invitation its 1,000 email subscribers and invited them to share it on Twitter. A TweetMeme retweet button was included in the email invite and on the registration page to encourage recipients to share the event. Bluewire Media offered free tickets to the event as an incentive to retweet the invitation.
- Tweeted about the event to Bluewire Media’s 521 followers.
- Set up a registration page on its website, synched it with a Facebook event page and invited its 200 Facebook fans. They also set up an event page on LinkedIn and invited their company followers.
- Issued a media release on PRwire to announce the event
- Set up a #bluewire hashtag for attendees’ use during the event. Attendees were also encouraged to direct questions and comments to speakers via Twitter using this hashtag.
- Following the event, pictures were posted to Bluewire’s Facebook fan page and guests were tagged. A thank-you email was sent to guests with a feedback survey and a link to a resources landing page with YouTube videos and slides on Slideshare. It also announced the prize winners from the previous night and listed the speakers’ Twitter handles so guests could connect.
- Video interviews with the speakers were recorded at the event and posted to YouTube.
Campaign Results: As a result of its event marketing efforts utilizing social media, Bluewire Media achieved the following:
- There were 42 retweets of the event invitation. Collectively, the 42 users who retweeted the invitation had over 20,000 followers, 40 times more than Bluewire’s 500 followers.
- An interested journalist interviewed 2 of the event’s speakers for an article in the Brisbane Business News.
- 72 people registered for the event and filled the room. Half of attendees were clients, and half were prospects paying $45 each. Half of those prospects heard about the event via social media (mainly Twitter) and had previously not known about Bluewire.
- 13 prospects requested an initial consultation as a result of the event.

Eligibility
- Company nominations only are eligible to win. Please nominate a specific company, not an individual.
- If you represent an agency, please only submit specific campaigns you've implemented, not a general overview of your company's services.
- Any company, large or small, is eligible to enter.
- Entrants must be a fan of HubSpot's Facebook Page in order to win.
- There is no cost for entry.
Submission Process
Step 1: Entrant becomes a fan of HubSpot's Facebook Page.
Step 2: On the entry form, entrant provides general contact information about the nominated company and him/herself.
Step 2: Entrant provides the entry, consisting of a brief description of the inbound marketing campaign/initiative (objectives, strategies, tactics, target audience, etc.) as well as a brief description of its results.
Step 3: Entrant invites friends to vote for the submission!
Note: All submissions will be made public and can be commented/voted on by other users, and all submissions are initially subject to the approval of the HubSpot team.
Contest Timeline:
- Call for Submissions: approximate 1.5 to 2 weeks
- Public Voting: approximately 1 week
- Winner Announced
Winner Selection Process
- At the close of the submission process, the public will vote on entries to determine a list of top-voted entries.
- Of the top-voted entries, one winner will be chosen at the conclusion of the contest by members of the HubSpot team.
