Our Philosophy

We're Not Like the Others.

Flex is how we describe the way we work at HubSpot.

It reflects a flexible, intentional approach that balances autonomy with clear expectations and prioritizes results over hours or location. While some roles require an in-office presence, the majority of roles at HubSpot can be done from home, from one of our global offices, or a mix of the two, and we trust you to make the right call.

You might hear other companies describe this approach as hybrid, distributed, or remote-first. We use Flex because it fits us best. Flex is simply a clearer way to describe how HubSpot has always operated: empowering teams to do their best work, aligning on outcomes, and coming together with purpose when it matters.

As a @home employee, you work remotely from your home office, but may visit a HubSpot office a couple of times a year for team offsites or summits. You use our quarterly @home Meetup stipend to connect and meet other HubSpotters nearby. Check out our @home Meetup video below!

As a @flex employee, your week-to-week might look a little different - but you’ll blend working from home with regular visits to your local office. Some months, that might mean dropping in once to reconnect and collaborate; other times, it could be closer to a couple of days a week, depending on what’s happening.

As an @office employee, your local office is your primary workspace - you do your best work there. Most weeks, you’re in the office at least three days, with a dedicated desk that’s always yours. It’s a setup that gives you consistency, routine, and easy access to in-person connection.

Customer Success Manager + Onsite in Dublin! (January 14th)

Whether you're @home, @office, or @flex, connection is critical. Connection can take place in many forms, no matter your work preference. That's why we have programming like:

In-office monthly connection days – Regular opportunities to gather in-person, reconnect with teammates, and soak up the office buzz.

MixHubs – Our Slack-based virtual mixer that pairs HubSpotters for casual coffee chats; perfect for meeting new faces across teams and time zones.

@Home Meetups and a quarterly @Home Meetup stipend – Get together with other HomeSpotters in your area, with a little help from us to cover the coffee (or tacos).

Location-specific Slack channels – Find your local crew, swap tips, or see who’s around to cowork or connect nearby.

Community-specific Slack channels – Whether you’re into crafts, climbing, cooking, or collecting passport stamps, there’s a channel (and a friend) for that.

Of course, we hold live meetings, but by embracing asynchronous communication, we create space for more voices and diverse perspectives to be heard. During new hire training, you’ll learn when to use synchronous versus asynchronous methods, ensuring that collaboration is both effective and inclusive, no matter where or how you work.

We’re set up to collaborate seamlessly in a hybrid world, whether you’re in the office or working remotely. We rely on Slack for real-time connection and collaboration, Zoom for all meetings, and G-Suite for sharing and creating together. Supported by a wide range of powerful virtual tools, our teams work effectively across regions, time zones, and personal work preferences. No matter where you are, you’ll always be able to connect and collaborate with ease.

Flex Work FAQs

Employees may work in a country where they have work authorization for up to 90 days as part of HubSpot's temporary mobility policy. Beyond the 90-day policy, employees are only eligible to work from the country in which they are already contracted to work. In other words, if you’ve been hired to work in Germany, and your role is eligible for @home work, you can work remotely in Germany.

All employees will receive the following: laptop, monitor, headset, keyboard, mouse, cables/adapters. @home, @flex employees will have these shipped to their homes. HubSpot also provides monthly stipends to @home and @flex employees to set themselves up for success in home workspaces. @office employees receive a dedicated desk in their local office with all the equipment they need.

We ask that employees choose their working preference once per calendar year. However, if an employee experiences a qualifying life event (including but not limited to a move, a marriage, a divorce, the birth or adoption of a child, or a job change), they'll have the opportunity to update their selection in order to ensure their working preference still allows them to do their best work based on new circumstances.

Combined, HubSpot’s @home and @flex communities make up 93% of our employee population. This is why we dedicate a ton of resources to making sure all employees feel a sense of community and connection to our culture. We have a robust @home Meetup program with a quarterly budget to meet your local peers, virtual mixer programs, and remote champions distributed globally who help bring our local communties together. We also have countless non-work Slack channels where you can connect with peers to discuss anything from dad jokes to crochet, to baseball, or even Taylor Swift.
