Improved Merging and Notifications In Duplicate Management

The idea behind the duplicate management tool that launched in the last few months: it uses artificial intelligence to find duplicate records in your database, and makes it quick and easy to merge them.

One issue that's come up again and again in your feedback since the tool's launch: when HubSpot shows you two records that might be duplicates, it only shows you three properties. That's not enough to determine whether they're duplicates, and it's definitely not enough to figure out which one should "win." In other words, it's neither quick nor easy.

With today's change, you can now choose which properties to compare when merging contact and company records. As an added bonus, you can also choose to be notified when new duplicate contacts or companies are found in your database.

Quick and easy, just like it should be.

Here's how it works:

Navigate to Marketing > Contacts > Actions > Manage Duplicates. Click to review a pair. Then, click "select properties" and select the properties to display.

Two quick notes:

First, you can add up to five fields to compare the two records. Second, updates to the properties are per-user. If you make a change to your properties, you'll see those same properties next time you merge. But your other team's merges won't be impacted.

With today's change, you can also enable notifications when new duplicates are found. Notifications are automatically enabled. To turn them off, disable them via Settings > Notifications > Status > CRM.
