Celebrations are in order!
Last night, HubSpot Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Dharmesh Shah was honored with a 2018 New England Choice Award as a leader in the Business and Entrepreneurship category. The New England Choice Awards are hosted by INE MultiMedia and India New England News, the region’s oldest and largest online, print and video magazine serving the South Asian community. The annual awards are designed to celebrate the impact of Indian-American leaders in academia, arts, philanthropy, technology, and more. Congratulations, Dharmesh!
Of the recognition, HubSpot Co-Founder and CEO Brian Halligan, said: “I first met Dharmesh when were were in business school together at MIT. Right away, I was impressed with his big brain. What has surprised me over the years is that his heart is even bigger than his brain. He is always striving to make things better for our customers, our partners, our employees, and our community. His human-centric, heart-filled leadership style is truly remarkable. This recognition is a strong testament to the impact Dharmesh has had not only on the Indian-American community here in Massachusetts, but on our inbound community globally. Congrats, Dharmesh! I couldn’t have asked for a better co-founder, leader, or friend.”
In addition to being HubSpot’s CTO, Dharmesh has played an instrumental role in our company’s culture since the early days. In 2013, Dharmesh published the Culture Code, a slide deck that codifies HubSpot’s mission, how we work, our values and beliefs, and who we aspire to be, based on Dharmesh’s research with HubSpot employees. (The Culture Code has over 4 million views to date.) Joining the conversation about tech cultures and diversity challenges, Dharmesh recently published a LinkedIn article, Deep, Dark Thoughts on Being Different, about his experience being Indian-American in the United States and his journey to embracing what makes him and his background unique.
Based on the belief that customers deserve to be treated fairly, Dharmesh published the Customer Code earlier this year. In the slide deck, Dharmesh outlines core tenets of how businesses can deliver on this promise in order to fully solve for the Customer.
Beyond HubSpot, Dharmesh is an angel investor, blogger at Onstartups.com, and proud husband and father. We at HubSpot couldn’t be more proud to work with him- congratulations Dharmesh!
