One of the reasons why HubSpot JAPAC is unique is its makeup; Australia, Japan, and Singapore. Geographically close, these countries couldn’t be further in their cultural dynamics. In this blog, you’ll get to meet and hear directly from the immensely remarkable team JAPAC, helping customers grow better with their enriching perspectives and experiences.

We kickstart this series with HubSpotters based in Singapore to share what makes #HubSpotSingapore stand out and how they’re at the forefront of driving change. And when they're not doing that, they're enjoying our virtual and in-person community-building events (pssst, look below!)

Team Singapore enjoying The Great Ice Cream Social. What would be your flavor of choice?

Introducing Rakaesh, Justin, and Rachel!

Introduce yourself, your journey to HubSpot Singapore, and your work option (@flex, @office, @home)

Rakaesh Vijayan: Hi I'm Rakaesh, Team Lead Sales in the India Team. I'm a flex employee and the first boomerang employee (an employee who left and was later rehired) of HubSpot Singapore (to my knowledge).

Justin Tit: I’m Justin, a Principal Customer Onboarding Specialist based out of Singapore. I’m a @flex employee, meaning I can work remotely and in the office as needed. I have been with HubSpot for 5+ years. Prior to HubSpot, I was working at media agencies, primarily on B2B accounts, so the switch from media agency to HubSpot was pretty seamless for me!

Rachel Tan: Hi, my name is Rachel and I am currently a Senior Inbound Coach in HubSpot. I used to work for a tech start-up that used HubSpot. Drawn by the efficiency and value that HubSpot brought, I was happy to jump on an opportunity to join HubSpot when a recruiter reached out! I am a @remote worker while occasionally dropping by the office in Singapore to catch up with my colleagues during events. This arrangement works best for me as I get to spend time with my 1-year-old nephew at home.

How are you driving change at HubSpot?

Rakaesh Vijayan: I'm always having listening sessions with my colleagues to hear their feedback on the ground and leveraging my internal HubSpot network to take necessary actions to solve those issues.

Justin Tit: I’m active in the LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group here at HubSpot, and have helped organize panel discussions with employees and community stakeholders. This is hugely rewarding and I feel blessed that I get to advocate and help make HubSpot a safe space for everyone.

Rachel Tan: I actively participate in forums with my top management where I can provide feedback from the ground and ideas on how we can better solve for the customers. I’m also one of the product champions in piloting new initiatives in HubSpot - e.g. using AI to drive efficiency at our jobs.

What makes HubSpot Singapore unique to you?

Rakaesh Vijayan: The unique blend of cultural diversity, hard work, and efficiency make us unique.

Justin Tit: It’s gotta be the people. People are genuine and are willing to help and share knowledge/expertise. That’s rare.

Rachel Tan: The people! Everyone I've met at HubSpot is very friendly and transparent. I appreciate the friendships formed here. We celebrate each other's successes and are more than happy to help where we can. I love how we have many community groups here too! #basketballsingapore #singspot-pets #singspot-christians just to name a few that I’m in.

How would you describe the culture? What are the standout initiatives?

Rakaesh Vijayan: It's like a startup here. If you want it, do it! The Rojak community and initiative is for me the uniqueness of Singapore.

The Rojak community aims to provide a safe space for HubSpotters to discuss, understand and celebrate the mixture of racial, cultural, and national "flavours" represented in SingSpot and in the communities we serve. Rojak seeks to promote allyship and upstander behavior, to combat racism and xenophobia, and work together to make HubSpot Singapore a more diverse and inclusive workplace to grow, work and have fun at.

Justin Tit: Empowering. Everyone is free to create their own interest groups and connect with like-minded people. There’s also a culture of transparency and a genuine willingness to grow/improve. I personally love sessions like the failure forum (where leaders share about personal failures and challenges). I’ve learned so much from these sessions and it’s amazing and inspiring to hear our leaders be so vulnerable and open.

Rachel Tan: Warm, open and inviting! HubSpot has done a great job in making this place an inclusive place where we can bring our honest selves to work every day. What I appreciate about HubSpot is how our leaders (e.g. through the CEO Roundtable with our CEO Yamini and VP Sales & Managing Director JAPAC, Dan Bognar) gave us an avenue to share our thoughts. It really shows that our leaders care for their people.

But the insights into HubSpot JAPAC don't have to stop there!
