You don't need us to tell you, but the world of technology is constantly evolving. And with it, the need for diverse voices and perspectives has never been more critical. This year's First Gens in Tech (FGIT) event brought together a group of inspiring individuals to share their stories of navigating the complexities of the tech world. Interested? Great timing. We're just about to recap!
For our seventh annual event, in addition to providing context, community, and real-life examples of other first-gen people doing great things in tech, we shared the reality of and takeaways for navigating a tough job market that can be challenging.
Overcoming Challenges with Hope, Help, Hustle, and Heart.
The event's kickoff was a panel powerhouse of motivation and insight, featuring Martha Niño, Senior Marketing Manager at Adobe, Brianna Doe, Bobby Dorlus, Christina and Fiona Li. Martha shared her motto, "Figure it out," emphasizing the resilience and problem-solving skills that have guided her throughout her career. "Look for that ‘yes.’ Be the cycle breaker in your family!". According to Martha, "hope, help, hustle, and heart" are the three pillars that helped her overcome challenges.

Some nuggets of wisdom included, “Remember that the key to networking is not about the number of people you have in your contact system, but how many people have YOU in their contact system. How many people are thinking about you.”
