One of the reasons why HubSpot JAPAC is unique is its makeup; Australia, Japan, and Singapore. Geographically close, these countries couldn’t be further in their cultural dynamics. In this blog, you’ll get to meet and hear directly from the remarkable team in Australia.
In the second edition of our series (Pssst, if you want to meet team Singapore, click here), we introduce you to HubSpotters based in Australia to share what makes #HubSpotAustralia and life down under stand out. Without further ado...
Some of team Australia enjoying time in the office together.
Introducing Conor, Gui, and Steffany.
Introduce yourself, your journey to HubSpot Australia, and your work option (@flex, @office, @home)
Conor Bell: I have been with HubSpot for nearly two and a half years as part of the small business team. I work fully remotely and love it because it means I get to spend more time with my kids rather than traveling to work. HubSpot’s work-from-home culture is phenomenal. I joined after reading about the culture. Everything HubSpot says is true in terms of culture.
Gui Feijo: I lead a Mid-Market team here in Australia as a flex employee. Marketer by trade, I have worked in many organisations and countries from corporations to NFPs to tech startups and now HubSpot.
Steffany Marquez Peralta: I joined HubSpot one year ago, as a Senior Customer Success Manager within the Corporate team. I am a full-time remote worker which was one of the many factors in my decision to choose HubSpot. After dedicating eight years to my previous company, I was seeking an innovative organization with a strong customer-centric focus and an exceptional culture. HubSpot, without a doubt, met all of my criteria.
How are you driving change at HubSpot?
Conor Bell: I’m driving change by developing a great remote Melbourne catch-up where everyone is welcome to meet up face to face. HubSpot encourages and prioritizes remote catch-ups too which I try to organise once per month.
Gui Feijo: By building an incredibly diverse team from different countries, backgrounds, religions, ideas, and so on.
Steffany Marquez Peralta: I'm driving change by offering an alternative method for customers to engage with HubSpot. Rather than treating it as a simple vendor-client relationship, I'm encouraging a perspective where HubSpot becomes more akin to a project. This approach places the customers' objectives and a tangible ROI at the forefront.
What makes HubSpot Australia unique to you?
Conor Bell: It’s a place where talented people truly try to solve for the customer. You see feedback nearly every day where customers write in due to the experiences they have with HubSpot. That doesn’t happen with the majority of other companies.
Gui Feijo: Diversity is huge in Australia, and therefore in HubSpot Australia. That makes our ideas and thoughts much richer as we feed from each other's knowledge and worldviews.
Steffany Marquez Peralta: Australia is a really diverse team, which, in my personal experience, was somewhat uncommon. It's wonderful to witness such a high degree of diversity because diversity is a catalyst for innovation, and consequently, for growth.
How would you describe the culture? What are the standout initiatives?
Conor Bell: Standout initiatives are support for secondary carers during paternity leave. Remote catchups and general events are organised to improve culture. Carla Salvatori, our culture specialist, who organises all of this is an absolute legend and we’d be lost without her.
Gui Feijo: Culture has been a strong focus, especially with the arrival of our amazing culture specialist, Carla Salvatori. We love the mingles, Latinx events, and many other opportunities we have to get together every month, remote or not!
Steffany Marquez Peralta: The team culture is exceptional, providing a sense that there's always someone available to lend a hand, which is a significant advantage. I like the autonomy that you can have in the role and the flexibility of working remotely. Elements that I haven't come across in other organisations.
