We want you to feel at home in SydSpot. That’s why we’re passionate about creating a culture of belonging. Thanks to our employee resource groups like ParentSpot, Women@HubSpot, and the LGBTQ+ Alliance, we have activities, workshops, and programming to help build community inside -- and outside -- the office.
HubSpot has an ambitious mission of helping millions of organizations grow better. That’s why we hold ourselves to a high standard. One of our Glassdoor reviews said it best: “The Sydney office has a particularly special thing going on. Amazing people, tons of fun, but serious about the goals we have and all the hard work it's going to take us to get there.”
We work hard to give employees extraordinary support, training, and management that will help them learn and grow fast. From your first day of onboarding, to ongoing development workshops, to our Free Books program, we’re here to set you (and your future) up for success.
One of the best things about SydSpot is the people. It’s not unusual to find us jogging through the botanical gardens before work, taking an improv class, or laughing a little too loudly at Mystery Dinner. (These are quarterly events where your dining group and restaurant are a surprise until the final hour!)
Team Lead APAC Sales Engineering
What's one thing most people don't know about you?
I was a professional classical musician and full-time member of the National Radio Orchestra of Ireland for almost 7 years.
What team are you on and what does an average day look like?
I'm a Sales Engineer aka a technical member of the sales team. I normally start my day at 9am and I spend most of the morning supporting sales reps on web- and in-person meetings answering prospects' technical questions and walking them through integration scenarios, all of this with the end goal to enable good-fit prospects to purchase our software platform. After lunch, my role changes quite dramatically: my time is largely reserved for managerial activities such as various meetings, working on reports, projects and slide decks and 1:1s with my team and other internal stakeholders - all of this interrupted by the daily game(s) of ping pong. One of my favorite things about being a sales engineer is that I'm in charge of my own calendar.
What's one thing you love about the Sydney office?
It's a relatively small office and it's still possible to have a personal relationship with everybody.
What's your favorite place in the office and why?
The view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge from Level 15 always reminds me of how lucky I am to be in Sydney and in Australia.
How does HubSpot's culture help you do your best work?
I love the flexibility. It allows me to work from home on a regular basis and to join important events in my kids' life without neglecting work.
Anything else you want to add that candidates may want to know?
I started my HubSpot career as a support specialist in Dublin. At the time, there was no other office apart from Cambridge and HubSpot was a private company.
Senior Marketing Manager
What's one thing most people don't know about you?
I used to have a beauty blog and my dream job was to become a beauty journalist. That worked out well...
What team are you on and what does an average day look like?
I've had quite a few different marketing roles at HubSpot, but currently I'm running our PR and brand awareness initiatives across APAC. When I stepped into this position, it was a brand new role, so I've had the autonomy to build our local strategy from scratch.
I spend a lot of my time coming up with new ideas to drive press coverage for HubSpot in Australia, Singapore, India, and beyond. I collaborate with our local leadership in Sydney and Singapore on a lot of content creation to ensure everything we produce is valuable for our audience, whether that's helping with a byline they're working on, or a presentation for an industry event they're speaking at.
I also get to work closely with my counterparts in other regions like EMEA, LATAM, Japan, and the US on everything from product launches, to our annual INBOUND event in Boston. It's a really great support group, and we're constantly sharing the projects we're working on to gather each other's feedback and ideas.
What's one thing you love about the Sydney office?
The location! Right in the middle of everything, and a 5 minute walk to Circular Quay.
What's your favorite place in the office and why?
The armchairs by the big windows that look out over the city.
How does HubSpot's culture help you do your best work?
I love how much autonomy we have. I have a lot of freedom to shape my role based on what I believe will have the most impact.
Principal Account Executive
What's one thing most people don't know about you?
I can eat 10 KFC Wicked Wings in under 5 minutes. It's not advised though - best enjoyed slowly and at a reasonable pace.
What team are you on and what does an average day look like?
I am on the Mid-Market Sales team in SydSpot. Everyday I am speaking to companies across Australia & New Zealand that aren't small anymore, but definitely not big corporates either - those who are in the "scale up" phase. A day could range between making calls into my accounts, running product demonstrations or just running trainings with my customers. HubSpot adds functionality and tools based on what our customers and the market is asking for - so a good percentage of my day is also self learning the industry and getting a better sense of changes that could impact the people I speak to. I also help with internal training and helping my colleagues get as skilled up as much as possible.
What's one thing you love about the Sydney office?
We have a big chalkboard on Level 7 that more artistic SydSpotters contribute towards with whats been going on in the office. Currently there is artwork from PRIDE week.
What's your favorite place in the office and why?
We have a Nap Room. It's got awesome lighting and comfy chairs - I book it occasionally to meditate (or nap!)
How does HubSpot's culture help you do your best work?
GSD - Getting Shit Done! I don't think my managers, director, executives or colleagues care how I am getting my work done as long as I deliver results and my customers are happy. It's very freeing.
