Overview

Have a great event or campaign in the works and need a boost?  We’re here to help. The Marketing Development Fund (MDF) is open to all Platinum, Diamond, and Elite partners!

Submit your proposal and, if approved, you could receive up to 50% budget matching to support your next lead generation event. Whether it’s a webinar, workshop, or in-person experience, we want to help you make it happen.

Note: Applications are rolling and on a first come, first serve basis (with a priority for in-person events). Applications should be submitted a minimum of 6 weeks in advance, and we suggest submitting as soon as possible to secure your funding.

Proposal Submission Guidance

We will prioritize:

  1. Repeat events that partners have held in the past that have yielded a positive ROI
  2. Events or marketing activity with an industry/vertical focus
  3. Events or marketing activity focused on upmarket businesses (200+ employees)
  4.  Events or marketing activity that focuses on attracting new leads rather than exclusively nurturing existing ones.

Goal: 

The goal of the MDF program is to drive partner-sourced revenue by funding marketing activities that create and accelerate commissionable pipeline. To be eligible, the activity must generate either net-new or install base deals that are commissionable and tagged as “Partner Collaboration” in the partner portal.

While HubSpot Direct Sales Reps may refer relevant prospects to your events, particularly those aligned by industry or topic; the primary goal is not to accelerate in-flight HubSpot-led deals. As such, relying on existing HubSpot pipeline to drive event attendance is discouraged.

Program success and future funding will be measured based on the ability to generate partner sourced deals. Partner-assisted revenue is considered a bonus but not the core objective.

Please Note: Not all proposals will be selected for funding as this is a very competitive program. Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply early.

What we’re looking for

  • A clear, committed plan: demonstrated commitment and a solid strategy to exceed minimum pipeline generation requirements to unlock MDF support. This should include promotional activity and follow up plans.
  • Upmarket expertise: proven experience and understanding of HubSpot’s upmarket ideal customer profile (ICP).
  • Strong value proposition: a compelling, differentiated offering, supported by referenceable customers and high-impact content.
  • Demand generation focus: clear commitment to driving attendance and engagement through targeted marketing and promotion, not forgetting post event follow up!
  • Alignment with HubSpot values: activities that reflect HubSpot’s positioning, and customer-first approach - as well as creative ways to leverage HubSpot’s suite of tools (e.g. AI-powered features)

Reimbursement process

If your proposal is approved:

  • HubSpot will send an email with the details of the MDF event agreement, with the condition that the activity should take place within 2 weeks of the date stipulated in the MDF proposal (and in the same quarter)
  • Partners are required to submit their lead list no more than 10 business days after the MDF event takes place (partners can use this template)
  • Partners are required to submit their event receipts and invoices showing the total event cost no more than 10 business days after the MDF event takes place;
  • As well as an invoice made out to HubSpot for the approved amount, or 50% of the total event cost if less than the projected total MDF event cost in the approved proposal.

By submitting your proposal via the Partner Resource Portal, you confirm that you are authorized to enroll your organization in the MDF program and agree to participate in accordance with the official HubSpot Marketing Development Fund (MDF) Terms and Conditions.
