What team are you on, and what's your team mission?
I'm on the Local DevEx team in DPG, and our team provides local dev tooling that enables external developers to build on the HubSpot platform. Our goal is to make it easy for devs to interact with things like Apps and Websites in their HubSpot account from the comfort of their local machine and familiar IDE.
What does an average day look like?
An average day for me typically starts with some free time to catch up on various tasks. Sometimes this involves reading or watching materials, such as Loom videos, Slack messages, documentation, or PR reviews, and other times it’s catching up on coding. Most days include some form of planning or synchronization session with my team, my triad members, or other teams we’re working closely with. I spend a significant portion of my time ensuring that the developers on my team have the tools and context they need to operate efficiently and grow. I try to carve out as much time as possible throughout the day to work on my own coding tasks, but there are some days when coding isn't the most important thing on my plate.
What's one thing you worked on recently that you're proud of?
I helped introduce the new Developer Projects platform to HubSpot developers. This was a significant undertaking that required contributions from nearly the entire product group, and it was incredibly exciting to be part of the effort. We enabled external app developers to build third-party apps on HubSpot using a new "Projects" system that allows them to define applications and features through files. Anything that could previously be built in the UI can now be built using a combination of configuration files and code. This is a step toward improving our developers' ability to build powerful tools that extend the default behavior of HubSpot, and I'm proud to have contributed to that effort!
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I love to golf and spend time outside with my dog. If I'm not doing one of those two things, I'm probably playing video games (Expedition 33 lately), watching TV with my wife, or working on some coding side project.
What's your favorite Slack emoji?
I use 💎 all the time in place of 👌 as "perfect"
