How to Become an App Partner

There are just a few simple steps between you and the App Partner Program — understanding customer pain points, building an app, and listing it in the App Marketplace. Here's how you can get started:

1. Discover The Opportunity

Start by identifying the real customer problems you want to solve. The most successful app partners build integrations that address genuine pain points—whether that's eliminating manual data entry, connecting essential tools, or automating workflows that slow teams down. Foster a customer-focused vision that aligns with helping businesses grow better.

2. Explore Developer Resources

HubSpot provides comprehensive developer tools designed to help you solve customer problems effectively. Our ecosystem includes extensive API documentation, code samples, video tutorials, and an active community forum where developers share insights about building solutions customers love. The Center of Developer Excellence offers tailored guidance for creating integrations that feel native to the HubSpot experience.

3. Build Your Integration

Now that you understand the problem you're solving for customers and are familiar with the developer resources, build your integration. Make sure your integration features are solving real pain points users encounter daily—streamlining processes, connecting essential tools, or eliminating repetitive tasks. Leverage HubSpot's UI extensions, App Cards, and workflow integrations to create a deeper in-app experience. Share your app with customers for feedback - you'll need 3 active customer installs to submit your app.

4. Create Your Marketplace Listing

Your marketplace listing tells the story of how your app solves customer problems and delivers value. Focus on communicating the specific challenges your integration addresses and how your solution helps users achieve their business goals. Create compelling content with detailed descriptions, step-by-step setup guides, and demo videos showcasing real-world use cases.

5. Launch and Submit for Review — The Official Start of the Partnership

Submit your customer-focused solution for HubSpot's Ecosystem Quality approval process, which evaluates whether your app delivers genuine value, meets quality standards, and meets our minimum requirements. Ensure you have at least 3 active installs from real customers successfully using your integration. Once your app is approved, you'll officially be an App Partner and part of the App Partner Program with access to HubSpot's partner resources and ecosystem.

6. Grow and Optimize Your App

After launch, focus on continuously improving the customer experience through active engagement and development based on user feedback. Monitor how customers use your integration, listen to suggestions, and regularly update your app. Successful partners maintain strong user relationships, seek testimonials and reviews, and keep their marketplace presence fresh with updated content.

Get Your App HubSpot Certified After 6 Months

To get certified, an app has to pass an extra technical review by HubSpot's team of developers and be listed in the Marketplace for at least 6 months. As a result, certified apps stand out in the marketplace as higher quality and more trustworthy. Partners whose apps are certified generally see the following results*:

Represent a larger percentage of overall Marketplace active installs

Exhibit higher listing page → app install conversion rates

Have better app install → app usage conversion rates

Show improved API call success rates

* Based on HubSpot internal data that includes third-party applications and HubSpot built integrations.
