About the team

The AI Platform is responsible for driving key important AI features across HubSpot. We build HubSpot’s signals and feature store, recommendation models and engine, and the trust and safety AI layer, so Hubs can take advantage of these platform pieces to deliver AI values to our customers. 

Within the AI Platform, our AI Excellence Group is where cutting-edge AI technology meets practical business impact. Working across Predictive AI and NLP domains, we're a collaborative team of engineers and ML experts who are passionate about building scalable AI solutions that enhance HubSpot's product ecosystem.

In this role you will: 

  • Lead and mentor teams of ML Engineers in building scalable AI systems that combine state-of-the-art models with robust engineering practices.
  • Drive technical strategy for AI model development, deployment, and monitoring across both predictive modeling and NLP domains
  • Foster collaboration between ML Engineers and Software Engineers, creating an environment where both disciplines can thrive and learn from each other
  • Partner with product teams to translate business requirements into technically sound AI platform level solutions
  • Champion best practices in AI development, including model evaluation, testing, and responsible AI principles
  • Oversee the evolution of our AI platform (signals, recommendations, AI trust and NLP models)  to support increasingly complex compound AI systems
  • Build trusted relationships across HubSpot's AI organizations, ensuring alignment and knowledge sharing

You may be a fit if:

  • You have 3+ years of engineering management experience, with at least 2 years leading teams building production ML/AI systems
  • You demonstrate deep understanding of both ML/AI concepts and software engineering best practices
  • You have experience managing diverse technical teams, including both ML Engineers and Software Engineers
  • You have experience with modern AI architectures, including LLMs, recommendation systems, retrieval systems. 
  • You're passionate about fostering technical growth in others and can provide meaningful feedback on both ML and engineering work
  • You have a track record of collaborating with product teams to deliver customer value through AI capabilities

Key Expectations for Engineering Leads:

  • Engineering Leads are actively involved as a player-coach in building AI systems to solve customer problems. They are curious and involved in the technology as well as the people on their teams. They continue to grow as technologists while in role and should continue to tech lead one team to have a place to drive technical growth.
  • They have a strong technical vision for how to implement the product vision. This can include working with AI teams they oversee and external teams to ensure that we are solving problems the best way for customers, partners, and HubSpotters.
  • They think about and implement ideas to push teams to improve technically.
  • They are responsible for the engineers on their team and provide mentoring, coaching, and feedback to help them grow and succeed in their role.
  • They hold a high performance bar for their team.
  • They create and foster diverse teams and an inclusive culture, where ML Engineers and Software Engineers can collaborate effectively.

Pay & Benefits

The cash compensation below includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are tailored to your skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

Annual Cash Compensation Range:
$219,650$351,440 USD
